Any food ideas for pregnancy. I’m stuck in a hotel for 5 weeks?

Monday, March 8th, 2010

I just found out I am pregnant. My husband has Business in GA for 5 weeks and he brought me and our 2 year old son along with him. So I am stuck in a hotel with a microwave and small fridge. We do have a little skillet with a lid…But that’s all we have…Are there any pregnancy food recipes I can make. I’m sick of eating out and fast food.

Fresh fruits and veggies are awesome choices. Also, you can get one of those pre-cooked rotisserre chickens at a grocery store and those keep nicely in the fridge. You can make sanwiches or salads with that and your little one can eat it too.

I have one to share with you.

add
1 can of tomato soup

Add salt and pepper and favorite spices.
suggestion::onion powder, garlic powder, basil, Italian seasonings,

I can’t wait to try them.
I find it to hard to choose which is
the best frugal and easy recipe.
I will put it to a vote.

I am trying to break away from the fast food cycle but I don’t want to get into any expensive or labor intense recipe making. Frozen dinners are a major eww. I have tried buying lunch meat and bread but even with that I land up having to buy a big mac or whopper.

well if you like Burgers so much just buy hamburger and make your own. It doesnt cost to much and they dont take long to make. If you can get a geroge foremen grill they only take about 8 min or so to cook. You can also buy frozen hamburger patties.

Is fast food really that good?

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Alright here’s the thing, I’m Jewish (kosher) so I can’t have any fast foods from restaurants. However none of my friends are so when they go to McDonald’s and Wendy’s and Burger King etc. they always say that the food is AMAZING and I’m really missing out. Is this true? Is it really that good. If it is, do you people know any recipes where I could make for example a Big Mac in my house using kosher ingredients?
Thank You.

If you’ve never had it, you may find it quite good. However, for most who have had it, it’s taste is why we pay the extra money to go to say Applebee’s or Outback to get better quality food. It’s called fast food for a reason. With your situation though, as you describe, you may really like it. As if giving a child it’s first taste of sugar.

Mushroom Fries With Ponzu Dipping Sauce

8 portabello mushrooms
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups club soda
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon kosher salt
5 cups canola oil
sea salt

PONZU SAUCE (SOY DIPPING SAUCE)
1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
1 1/2 tablespoons ketjap manis
1/2 teaspoon Thai fish sauce
3 tablespoons mirin
1 teaspoon rice wine vinegar
1 slice fresh ginger, smashed

For the Sauce: Mix the soy sauce, Ketjap Manis, Thai fish sauce, Mirin and rice wine vinegar.
Add the ginger and marinate overnight.
Strain the sauce through a fine chinois or sieve.
For the Fries: Remove the stems and the gills from the bottom of the Portobello mushrooms.
Cut the mushrooms like steak fries.
Lightly dust the mushrooms with 2 tablespoons of flour.
Mix the remaining flour, club soda, eggs and kosher salt to form a batter.
Dip the Portobello fries in this tempura batter.
Blanch the fires in the Canola oil at 325 degrees F.
Drain on a dry towel and let cool.
Heat the oil to 375 degrees F.
Cook the blanched fries in the hot oil until they are golden brown and crispy.
Drain on a dry towel and season with the sea salt.

juice of 2 limes
1 medium size banana
2 cups of ice – makes it like a frozen ice drink
Mix all in a blender and serve. Serves 2

Easy,Fast, and enjoyable food recipe?

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

So,
I am hungry,
and in my food closet there is only,
marinara sauce,
corn,
peanuts,
campbell chicken noodle soup,
one piece of bread,
cherries,
tomatoes,
onions,
green peppers,
pesto sauce,
potatoes,
cheese,
elbow pasta,
ravioli,
vienna sasage,
black beans,
chicken broth,
fettucceine pasta,
raisins,

Sooo…
Thats all I have.
and a few spices.

Got any recipes?

snack on peanuts/raisin mix while you cook

marinara sauce+onion+green pepper+vienna sausage – cook till vegetables start to get tender. add to cooked fettuccine

corn+rinsed black beans+drained tomatoes+pesto=nice salad

boil potatoes till they start to soften add cheese and a little chicken broth = makes a fair au gratin potato

not much you can do with the ravioli and the chicken noodle soup is good to just heat and eat

What parts of cattle are used to make hamburger for fast food restaurants? Some said the whole thing is used?

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

Lips, tongue, eyeballs, brain, hooves, tail, etc.?? Does anyone know. Is it the same recipe for hamburger meat in all fast food restaurants?

They probably use the Med. grade, they said Angus meat, but Quality Inspectors only knows for sure. It is a gamble to eat fast food.
